The best thing going for Jimmy Mac's is that is is close to the water
and you can usually get a seat outside. The bar is almost always full
and busy. Solid, comfy chairs cover the deck; there's also ample
indoor seating and plenty of wilted hanging plants. Rock music
provides a background beat.
It seems every kind of burger -- from Cajun to Hong Kong-style -- lives
on this menu. The Minnesota Fats, a chubby prime meat charbroil
topped with mushroom gravy, sour cream and sauteed onions, is a big
winner. But so are the other menu items, like the Captain McPlatter
-- fried shrimp, scallops, oyster and grouper. Stomach willing, top
this off with a slice of peanut butter pie.
Getting there and getting tied up is half the fun. Jimmy Mac's is
right behind / beside Imperial
Marine. Once you get into the channel, it is almost all an no
wake zone. Once you get to Imperial Marine you can tie up on the wall
or take one of the 2 reserved guest slips on starboard side as you pull
up.
You might want to also take the opportunity to fill up while you are
there. Imperial has about the best fuel prices around.
